Privacy, plainly.

Effective 16 October 2026. This notice covers the GotchaVid browser extension (0.4 and later) and its optional account service.

On your device

Detected media links, titles, previews, settings and history stay in the browser. Media processing uses temporary browser storage; finished files are saved through Chrome Downloads. Source websites receive requests needed to inspect, preview and download media. History can contain signed links; treat your browser profile as private.

If you choose “Use this site's login”, the browser may include its existing cookies in requests to the source. GotchaVid does not read or export cookie values. The browser's cookie and site rules still apply. Media, cookies and history are never uploaded to the account service.

Optional accounts and payments

Railway hosts the account service. It stores your email address and membership, and either a password hash and recovery-key hash or, if you continue with Google, your Google account ID. Google sign-in shares your email address and basic profile with the account service; GotchaVid keeps only your email address and Google account ID, and uses them only to sign you in. The extension stores a sign-in token locally, restricted to trusted extension pages. When purchases are enabled, Plus is a one-time payment for 1 year or for life, and nothing renews automatically. Stripe processes payment details and stores billing records; GotchaVid stores customer and checkout identifiers, membership status and payment-event identifiers. Card and bank details do not pass through GotchaVid.

Account and billing security logs may contain an account identifier, IP address, request path, status and time for up to seven days. Railway and Stripe process infrastructure and billing information under their own policies. GotchaVid adds no advertising, analytics or automatic download reports.

Your choices

You can use downloads without an account. Sign out or delete your account in Settings → Manage account. Deletion closes any unpaid checkout and ends Plus, including paid time left; it does not request a refund or erase payment records Stripe must retain. Saved files and local history remain on your device. Remove history separately in the queue.

Support reports

Reports are prepared locally for you to review and copy. They omit source links, titles, cookies, file paths and raw errors. Nothing is sent automatically. For help or privacy requests, email razormormon@gmail.com; include a report only if you choose to.
